About me
Background
Franz Fleissner is fine art photographer based in Sweden. He has been producing pictures for about ten years and his work has been published in several art photography books and magazines such as Studio magazines, (Australia) Saveur magazine USA.”
After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts School in Sweden he found a new passion (and soon to be obsession) in photography and started his first photographic projects in 1995. With a background I fine art Franz found his inspiration in the great masters of painting and soon adapted the classical lighting as used when sculpting and painting. He also found the genre which inspired him the most – the male body accentuated as “macho”. It also turned out that Sweden was the perfect base for this genre with an excellent range of good looking people.
The great outdoors
From his Austrian roots and “Brokeback Mountain” upbringing, Franz has always been fascinated by natural surroundings, light settings and the different seasons of the year. That’s why he is especially fond of location shoots in the outdoors and, like many classical artists, uses this to get more exciting and dramatic reactions. Especially with the Swedish climate, which can be icy cold and windy, forcing both model and photographer to concentrate under extreme conditions. Working together with a team of stylists, make-up artists and props experts gives a shoot a professional touch, but Franz has also shot some of his best fine art photos when he is alone with the model and can create certain spontaneity and natural poses.
